In 2022, book sales will generate 9.1 billion dollars in revenue

Statista collected data that showed the payment of the trade book publishing sector to be $9.1 billion by 2021.

Paperbacks and mass-market books accounted for $3.48 billion in revenue, while hardcover books accounted for $3.2 billion.

Audiobooks and ebooks accounted for $800,000,000 of revenue for books. Ebook sales totaled $1 billion.

Between 2005 and 2021, the revenue for print publishing declined by over $68 billion.

Comparatively, adult fiction sold 187.821 copies, while juvenile fiction sold 187.081 copies, juvenile nonfiction sold 65.071 copies, young adult fiction included 30.977 sales, and young adult nonfiction had 4.362 sales.

In 2022, the categories marked “Other” moved 23,694 units.

Other independent publishers saw sales growth of 70% for Media Lab Books, Wolfpack Publishing, 67% for Ulysses Press, 52% for 1517 Media, and 49% for Kogan Page Inc.

The Harry Potter series is the most popular fiction book on Amazon

Amazon tracks the fiction and nonfiction bestsellers in its book market.

The data are collected on a web page called “Amazon Charts.”

This page shows the 20 most popular books in each category for the week prior and includes data about the number of times each book appeared on the list.

The Harry Potter Series has appeared on the Most Read Fiction list the most often.

The majority of the top 100 have been on the list for a total of 310 weeks.

Half-Blood Prince spent 309 weeks in the top 100, while Chamber of Secrets appeared on the list for 287.

The data that Amazon uses for this list is derived from “daily Kindle and Audible listeners,” as opposed to information reported or collected by print book readers.

Amazon’s most popular nonfiction titles are Sapiens, by Yuval Harari (310 weeks on the list), The Subtle Arts of Not Giving A F*ckby Mark Manson, and 12 Rules for Life by Jordan B. Peterson.
